Alanna Smith

Owner/Artistic Director/Choreographer

Alanna has been sharing her love for dance since the young age of 3, receiving her training in Sooke and Victoria. She began her training in Tap and Jazz and quickly added ballet, Lyrical and Hip Hop to her repertoire. Alanna has completed her Gilbert Tap exams, passing with high distinction. Her teaching experience includes choreographing for numerous dance studios, elementary and high school programs and recreation centres. She has attended conventions and competitions across Canada and the United States and has performed both locally and internationally. Alanna has taken classes at The Edge Performing Arts Center in L.A and also had a lifetime experience of performing in Disneyland. Alanna’s classes are fun, challenging and technical. Alanna loves teaching here in Sooke and hopes to be a positive and influential role model to her students.

Julia Barrett

Senior Instructor

A.I.S.T.D Modern Dance
Julia has been dancing since the age of three. She has completed the highest level of ISTD Tap and Modern exams, her RAD Advanced 1 ballet exam and has represented both Nanaimo and Victoria numerous times at the BC Provincials Performing Arts Competition. She is a credited instructor of modern dance, successfully obtaining her I.S.T.D Associate's Exam Teacher Certificate. After graduating high school Julia moved to Vancouver to pursue modern dance with established company, Modus Operandi. While in Vancouver Julia gained further experience and expertise in performing, choreographing and improvisation. Moving back to Vancouver Island in in 2014, Julia has been passionately working with youth - in the dance studio and at school as an Education Assistant. As a teacher and choreographer Julia has won many awards locally and internationally; outstanding choreography, adjudicators choice and top finalist contemporary and jazz groups. Julia loves to share her knowledge and inspiration with all dancers and is excited to share her love of dance with the students at RDC.

Stephanie Wilson

Director of Ballet Programs/ Senior Instructor

Stephanie began her dance training at the age of 3. She has trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, tap, hip hop, and acro. She has attained her Advanced II level ballet exam in RAD (Royal Academy of Dance), her Advanced level modern exam in AIDT (Association of International Dance Teachers) and her Gold Higher Tap exam in AIDT. Over the years she has been involved with local dance festivals and numerous conventions. The love she holds for dance drives her to share that passion with her students. Stephanie has achieved teaching certifications in AIDT  modern/jazz and completed the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies program. She looks forward to teaching at RDC and passing on a life-long love of dance. Stephanie is the Director of the RAD ballet program at Revolution Dance Collective.

Mackenzie Mekelburg

Instructor - RAD Ballet

At the age of 3, Mackenzie began her technical dance training in jazz, ballet, and Martha Graham modern with Angela Mousseau at Michael Boston’s studio,  Boston Dance Collective, in Victoria BC. At the age of 10, Mackenzie joined Boston Dance Collective’s competitive company, expanding her training to all genres: ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, tap, hip-hop, acro, ballroom, pilates, contemporary. Throughout her 13 years of training with BDC’s competitive company program, Mackenzie participated in a numerous local and provincial competitions, festivals, and conventions, which take place annually. During this era of training, she primarily studied RAD ballet grade 1 - Advance 2, contemporary/Martha Graham modern, jazz, as well as lyrical. The most influential and inspirational mentors throughout her competitive training career were Julia Barrett, Pearl Edmunds, Kelsey Dukelow and Angela Mousseau. In 2018, Mackenzie dedicated a summer of training at Arts Umbrella in Vancouver - studying with Ballet BC, Crystal Pite, and other brilliant world-renowned teachers. While undergoing training at Arts Umbrella, she furthered her knowledge and expertise in improvisation, choreography, and pointe work. Mackenzie has spent years studying under her mentors and assistant-teaching, to become a versatile and skilled dance instructor; she is extremely excited to share her love and knowledge for dance with the students of Revolution Dance Collective.

Mady Chase

Instructor - Hip Hop/Lyrical

Mady began her dance training at the age of 4. She has trained in Hip Hop, Lyrical, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, and Tap. She has attended many workshops including Bollywood, Belly Dance, Zumba, and Ballroom. Mady has participated in various sports including gymnastics, which has given her complementary skills as a dancer. She participated in SD62 Dance Academies grade 6 through 12 being in the Advanced Academy throughout High School. She found her passion for Hip Hop while dancing in Dunsmuir DMSIZ Hip Hop crew. She then focused on Hip Hop, training and competing with Vibestreet Dance Studio. Mady has taught at many schools as well as studios. Her love of Hip Hop and all things dance are her inspiration and she’s looking forward to sharing her passion with everyone.

Carole Cave


Carole holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance (emphasis modern dance & choreography) from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her University degree included courses in Pedagogy. In 2006/2007 Carole studied Brain Dance including a comprehensive 6-week workshop "Brain Dance for Choreography" with Annemarie Cabri. She has over 30 years teaching experience with dancers of all ages and abilities. She strives for her dancers to grow and blossom in a positive, creative, non-competitive environment. She is known for her use of creativity and imagination to make dance fun, use of positive reinforcement to encourage confidence while establishing the structure and discipline that children crave. Carole has been providing Sooke with dance and performance opportunities for 25 years.

Sophia Harrington


Sophia has been working as a professional choreographer, dancer, and dance instructor for the past 13 years. She has created multiple award winning works of choreography for various events, competitions and studios, along with choreographing for feature films, and commercials. One of her notable film works was her choreography for the Hallmark Movie "Once Upon A Prince". She also choreographs and performs as a backup dancer for various live shows such as for the rock band Prism, and the singer/songwriter Darren Day. Her experience involves years of high level intensive training in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, lyrical, sexy jazz/heels, and Contemporary/modern, along with training in other less mainstream styles such as ballroom, latin, bollywood, african, acrobatics, voguing/whaking/tutting and breakdance.

Alissa McCrea

Dance Instructor

Alissa has been dancing for longer than she can remember, starting her love of dance at Carole Cave’s baby ballet class. She is trained in a variety of styles including Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Musical Theatre, and Hiphop. She has completed up to Intermediate in RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) exams, achieving distinction multiple times. She has attended many
competitions over the past few years winning a number of platinum and high gold medals.
Alissa joined Sooke Dance Studio’s Performance Company at the age of nine and is looking forward to continuing performance classes with RDC (Revolution Dance Collective). Since she could walk, Alissa has loved making up her own choreography in various styles and is always looking to perform her own dances. Alissa is very eager to continue her dance journey with Revolution Dance Collective.

Kayla Harvey

Dance Instructor/Office Admin

Kayla began her dance training at the age of 2. she has studied multiple dance styles including jazz, lyrical, hip hop, ballet, contemporary, acro and tap. She has been a member of various Performance Company’s and Lil City Beatz hiphop crew. Her dance credits include performing in Victoria and Nanaimo Dance Festivals and Competitions, attended GSP dance convention, finishing her RAD ballet exams and receiving her RAD Ballet Solo Performance Award. She performed with PACE musicals and performed in numerous musical theatre shows. She has been teaching and choreographing for the last 9 years. She is excited to share her passion for dance with Revolution Dance Collective.

Hayley Eriksen

Dance Instructor

Hayley started her journey of dance at the age of 2. She has learned many styles of dance including; Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Modern, Jazz, and Hip Hop. Hayley has completed all of her RAD (Royal Academy of Ballet) exams up to the level of intermediate. To pursue her goals in academics and dance she enrolled in Royal Bay Secondary School to evolve her dance creativity through their Dance Academy at the highest level of advanced. Hayley has spent her summers attending dance camps to improve her technique - most recently she completed training with the Victoria Academy of Ballet. Hayley understands the dedication, discipline, and focus of a technical dancer but also feels the passion, joy and thrill with the movement of dance. Hayley started her journey at Sooke Dance Studio and feels inspired to pass on her joy of dance to the next generation at RDC (Revolution Dance Collective).

Alexa Baldwin


Alexa has been dancing for 7 years and is still dancing proudly at RDC. She dances many styles, such as Contemporary, Hip Hop and Jazz but her focus is in Ballet. She has completed many RAD Ballet exams to a high level and has now reached the Advanced foundation grade. Since she was a little girl, Alexa has always loved dancing and she is very excited to share her love for dance with the next generation.

Ava King


Ava began her dance training at the age of of 5. She has experience with many styles including jazz, lyrical, contemporary, acro and ballet. She has completed up to intermediate RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) exams, and has reached distinction a number of times. She has take part in many competitions winning platinum and high gold with solos. For school she attends Royal Bay Secondary to be apart of their advanced dance academy. Ava is looking forward to sharing her burning passion for dance with the next generation.

Jennifer Connell

Front Desk Manager/Admin

Jennifer's love for dance was instilled in her at a young age.  She first began dancing in her grandmother's dance studio at the age of 2.  She spent much of her youth dancing and helping out there.
Jennifer worked and danced with Sooke Dance Studio for the past 10 years.  She was an integral part of the dance studio in the front office and administration.
She enjoys seeing and chatting with the parents and dancers everyday.  She loves seeing the creativity and confidence that dance brings out in the students.
Jennifer is excited to be a part of Revolution Dance Collective and looks forward to the start of what's going to be an exceptional dance year!
